Tijdens een speciale avond op 9 september worden de werken van de 7 genomineerde studenten van de René Coelhoprijs 2008 middels een filmprogramma (& registraties) gepresenteerd. Ook vinden er live - performances van Heidi Happy en van Henk-Jelle de Groot plaats. Een externe jury onder voorzitterschap van artistiek directeur, Heiner Holtappels, kiest op 9 september de winnaar.

De jury bestaat uit:

Macha Roesink, directeur De Paviljoens;Domeniek Ruyters, hoofdredacteur Metropolis M en Persijn Broersen, beeldend kunstenaar.

Presentatie Wouter Venema

De prijswinnaar van 2007 Wouter Venema toont van 9 – 11 september zijn nieuwe werk 'Reiziger' dat hij met behulp van de René Coelhoprijs heeft gemaakt. Reiziger is een installatie die bestaat uit een rond projectiescherm waarop twee dezelfde videoprojecties in een ronddraaiende beweging worden geprojecteerd, zoals het licht van een vuurtoren. Reiziger gaat over mensen die opzoek zijn naar een verhaal. Over verdwalen tussen dag en nacht. Over dingen die bij elkaar horen, maar elkaar nooit zullen vinden. Zoals de lichtbundels van een vuurtoren. Openingstijden: 10 en 11 september, 10.00 – 18.00 uur. Toegang gratis. René Coelhoprijs Voor de René Coelhoprijs heeft het NIMk alle Nederlandse kunstacademies gevraagd een voordracht te doen van een student die eindexamen doet op het gebied van audiovisueel / nieuwe media. Ook de programma commissie van het NIMk selecteerde tijdens de eindexamenexposities een aantal kandidaten van verschillende academies. Uit alle inzendingen is de shortlist gemaakt. De prijs, die is genoemd naar René Coelho - de oprichter en voormalig directeur van het Instituut - bestaat uit een bedrag van € 2500,- en het aanbieden van productiefaciliteiten ter waarde van € 2500,- om een nieuw werk te maken. Dit houdt in dat de prijswinnaar bijvoorbeeld zelfstandig of met ondersteuning van een editor kan werken in de montageruimtes, gebruik kan maken van de opnameapparatuur of van de computerfaciliteiten inclusief programmeurs in het Artlab. De prijswinnaar krijgt 6 maanden de tijd om een nieuw kunstwerk te maken en binnen een half jaar na de uitreiking van de prijs zal het bekroonde eindexamenwerk en het nieuwe werk middels een presentatie in het Nederlands Instituut voor Mediakunst worden getoond. Het Media art festival Friesland toont de shortlist van de Rene Coelhoprijs 2008 van 4 t/m 14 september. My experimental dancefilm "TimeCopy" will be shown during Cinedans from 3th - 10th of July 2008 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Cinedans is the first and only dancefilm festival in The Netherlands. You can watch TimeCopy in Rialto during the festival from 3th - 6th of July 2008 and random at the Cas/Zuidas during the month July.

24th of June 2008 I will receive my bachelor diploma in the Fine Arts at ArtEZ Academy of Arts in Arnhem, The Netherlands. There will be an exposition from 25 th of June till 1st of July.

I was a finalist in the category dancefilm with my film TimeCopy. ACT Festival took place in Bilbao, Spain from 28 th - 31 th of May 2008. I was invited by the festival to come to Bilbao.
